“I’m Not Enough”…Your Soul’s Hell

August 26th, 2013 | no comments

Body-Dissatisfaction-Among-Girls

We’ve all been there.  Scrolling through your facebook feed, or instagram while sipping your morning coffee, while taking in hundreds of ‘perfect’ moments in other people lives.  It’s all innocent right?  Or is it?

On the outside you appear calm & relaxed, yet on the inside you begin to squirm…“I’m not pretty enough”  “I’m not smart enough” “I’m not skinny enough”  “I’m not tall enough”

Let’s stop this rubbish talk for a moment, and take a look at where this is all coming from.  Most people who post on facebook or instagram are posting their ‘perfect moments’, giving the illusion that their life is “perfect”.  I know I certainly do!  The green smoothie, the jog in the park, the beautiful days at the beach….

What we forget is the “not-so-perfect” moments are never posted for the world to see!  The bad hair days, the big-pimple-on-your-nose day, the puffy-eyes-because-I-had-a-fight-with-my-boyfriend day.

Being authentic is about embracing all of you; your imperfections, your quirky habits, your body shape, your voice.  “It is a daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be, and embracing who we are” (Brene Brown, ‘The Gifts of Imperfection‘)

And let’s admit, it is much easier said than done!

Like Brene Brown writes, it is a ‘daily practice’.  Take some time to get to know yourself.  Embrace your indifference’s, and build the courage to be imperfect.  Allow yourself to be vulnerable, and gently shake off the gremlins ‘shame’ and ‘fear’ who you are holding you back.

I want to set an intention for this blog site, and that is pure authenticity.  To write from the heart, to be open, vulnerable & courageous in speaking my voice.  In setting this intention, I would love for you, the reader, to set the same intention with me.  Let’s go on this journey together and practice showing the world who we really are!  Would love to hear from you, please share your experiences with comparison and self-worth from social media in the comments below!

You have enough.

You do enough.

You are enough.
